· Media can play a very positive role in educating the population. The people need to their duties and right.
· Media can teach how the people should be treated by government and private departments providing services in our country. A helpline on every city basis will be established where people can complain if they are not treated well by any department.
· Media can also help in educating public as to how, where, when and how much to pay the tax. People should be facilitated to the maximum to collect the tax in an efficient manner.
· Traffic rules, government policies and other rules and regulations can be taught to the people especially the young people to prepare our coming generation to become a better citizen.
· Our national achievements and important policies can also be communicated to the masses to keep their morale high and the momentum of the revolution alive.
Our media mainly covers the politics and the governance issues addicting the nation to the talk shows. I strongly suggest that there should be mandatory prime time slots allocated for educative quiz programs which can be for university students as well as general public incorporating personalities like Naeem Bukhari, Talat Hussain etc. There can also other informative / research oriented programs such as we have on channels Discovery and National Geographic etc.

Although I agree with you point of full independence to media, however they should also be fully educated, patriotic, must behave responsibly and must be held accountable incase of any violation. Pressure group behavior should be discouraged in all forms. Rule must prevail.

I totally agree. Positive character building dramas are also very helpful in educating the people. Children idealize the heroes in those dramas. Our PTV dramas were so popular in the sub continent and had so much of impact. Unfortunatley now the trend is of making more star plus sort of plays which are useless and time wastage.
ReplyDeleteI agree and would like to add that there has to be some media policy. currently we are without any policy as well as check. In any state media is not be a judge unto themselves. Some code of conduct and policy guidelines must be in place and complied with.
